The Lime Tree

I decided to lay under the lime tree in the garden today for the first time…
I began to ponder WHY I had never thought to do this before?
I realized it was because we used to have grass everywhere so I would just find a spot and post up. Now we have concrete down there and the grass area has dwindled a bit in the yard.
The garden is very well loved and cared for so the grass is always trimmed enough to be comfortable to lay in here.
As I lay arms out stretched feeling every gentle blade against my skin I smell the strong scent of limes mixed with terra.
I’m reminded of the summer days I would sit in the soft dark green grass and read in the yard.
The picnics I would prepare for myself and my dog as we lay atop a blanket.
This grass feels very different from the one that grew below, but it’s still nice, new, yet old all the while.
The soil in this area seems to cup my body more than the other. I could fall asleep here.
That thought makes me happy because I now look forward to the new memories I’ll make in the garden this summer.
Yes, a lot of things may be different from then, but… on the edge of discomfort is where we truly begin to discover more…

I listened to “The Lime Tree” by Trevor Hall as I lay in the grass🌱
