A random memory was triggered today. I was in the pool at my Tia’s house with one of my little cousins, I was teaching her how to swim. She was nervous and scared so I made sure to maintain eye contact while I guided her with my hands and told her everything was all good, I had her and I wasn’t going anywhere. She looked me dead into my soul and said “When I look into your eyes I’m not scared anymore!” And that just fucking SENT my heart in the best possible way. I was NOT expecting that one. It was a really cute thing to remember and it made me feel good that I was able to create that safe space for her back then. It made me think about how you can look into someone’s eyes and feel so at peace, warm and just completely at HOME. What a beautiful world we live in where you can just look into someone’s eyes and feel like it’s a place. A place where you hang your mind at the door, kick your heart up on a comfy perch, and relax the body completely.
