My boy

He was never allowed in the garden but he would sneak his way in anyways whenever he felt like it.

It was his favorite spot to stroll through in the backyard… I wish I had walked through it more with him. I see why now he loved it so much here. It’s absolutely stunning.

There’s greenery everywhere with pops of pink roses and orange flowers.

The air is so fresh and clean.

The grass is soft beneath my feet and tickles my toes. Did his paws feel the same way perhaps?

His golden coat shone in the sunlight like the most beautiful light that simply warmed the soul.

He would sit with me wherever I went, and we would listen to music together.

He was always there when I needed someone and never judged.

He taught me how to love properly and unconditionally and I am so happy to say that I have the heart of a dog now because of him.

He made me want to be a better person for not only him but for myself too and that was really hard for me at the time. I didn’t love myself enough.

He was a gentle soul that got along with the other animals that visited our garden. Instead of hunting them down or chasing he would play and make friends.

Whenever the rain storms would come we would sit on the patio together just listening, watching the lightning and being together just like that.

Every night I would tuck him in and made sure he knew how much I loved him.

Every. Single. Time I petted him I NEVER half assed that shit. I would pet him so lovingly so he could feel the same love he radiated towards me.

He was my absolute best friend in this world for 13 beautiful years.

His ancient honey brown eyes held such an immense soul behind them and I’ll never forget the day I saw it slowly fade from them.

I didn’t care that I was staring death straight in the eyes, I made sure I held eye contact the ENTIRE time he left this world. I didn’t want his last image to be of me crying so I did what I could to hold back the tears for a little and instead I gave him the most warm and comforting smile I could possibly muster in my whole life. I watched the life slowly drain from his golden eyes and I made sure I shrouded him in all my light and love to make sure he got to where he needed to be in the afterlife. I made sure he had a friend to go with him on this journey, they had never actually met in person but I loved them both so dearly and it brings my heart joy to know that they can be there for each other in ways that I no longer can.

I know he’s not gone completely it’s just different now. I can’t help but miss running my fingers through his fur and kissing his forehead though. It’s only natural I think.

He was my protector, greatest companion, heart mentor, and light in some of the absolute darkest times in my life. So I’m forever grateful the universe gave me you.💛
