There once sat a girl in a heart shaped yet clear room floating in the clouds. She would watch the world around her through all sides, looking for someone. Whom? She didn’t know. When? She couldn’t tell. How would they even enter the sealed room, there wasn’t even a door… right? There she was in this waiting room alone, always alone. Some would get close, some passerby’s would stare back at her but could only see what she allowed, others would talk to her through the clear walls. As much fun as she had, she just knew it wasn’t HIM. Who? She always wondered. What might he look like? As she grew so did the questions, so did the hurt. She stopped looking for him for awhile because she was hurt and sad, and incredibly lonely. She sat alone for the longest time, not really waiting, not really not-waiting, just chillin with her own vibes. As she sipped a warm cup of coffee that smelled of cinnamon and dark roast coffee beans, suddenly one of the walls for the first time ever began to shift. She turned and watched a secret door open, a door she never could’ve imagined or seen by herself had been there the entire time? She never saw it, because she never had the key to it. That key had long been bestowed upon another. That key was a token of their promise to always find another, time and time again. A mutual soul contract forged before time, with a never ending expiry date. At long last, the key found her once again and unlocked feelings that the girl never knew could exist within her chest. She dreamt and predicted what it could be like, but now that everything she had longed for was in-front of her face… she realized that it was absolutely everything and even more than she thought it could be. This is what she just knew from the start that she needed to work towards, this was what her very soul had been strongly pulled towards the entire time, this was the love her heart knew existed in the world and was just waiting to align with her. Her eyes filled with warm tears and the biggest smile spread across her lips when she realized; This is it at last.
As if further confirmation were ever needed, the little souls realized that she too had a key…
The traveler had that same clear heart shaped box but in his chest. On his journey he didn’t need a home or a place to protect him, his soul knew his wings would always protect. So he began his travels in search of her. He didn’t know who she was, when she was, or where, he just knew that he had to follow the cord that was deeply felt yet unseen by the naked eye. He traveled far and wide, near and ever so close but just missing another. He fell many times and got lost, he got scraped up and bruised, he wanted to give in and settle in wherever he could find reprieve from his long journey. His heart screamed at him to get back up and keep moving. Keep trying, keep looking into the eyes of passerby’s to see if it’s her, keep moving he told himself. Don’t stop. Don’t ever settle. Never give up because you know you deserve so much better. He knew he would find her, the journey was SO long and incredibly lonely. He encountered many interesting souls along his way, and they each gave him a bread crumb, a clue if you will, but these clues would only light up when he ventured towards her. It’s very difficult to gage when you have no idea who it is, what they look like, what they sound like, or even how to get there. You just know that your soul is calling you, begging you, to keep exploring. So the traveler did, and despite the mirages set in place to distract him, he simply let his heart guide him through it all. His heart was always the final judge and he found that no one ever felt completely right. No one ever felt like home. He knew he had more ground to cover, he knew this path that his soul had chosen was the right one and that it was gonna be lonely for a very long time. He always knew that once he found her, it would all be worth it. Everything would just make sense, and fall into place as it was meant to. He built a beacon of light that he hoped might help guide her to him faster, but it hadn’t worked so far. He knew all along what he needed and that someone else possessed that key, but coming into alignment was a whole other obstacle. He eagerly awaited their union, and felt her warmth so many times deep in his soul. He just knew she was out there. He knew and yet, was still so blind. He gained sight with every small fragment he picked up along his journey. He simply followed the bread crumbs that his heart alone recognized. He didn’t always understand why he wanted to go certain places or why he felt drawn towards other things, he just went with it and picked up the puzzle pieces as they revealed themselves. He had so much fun and enjoyed his explorations and knew that each step was one step closer to her. He constantly thought of her, what she would be like, who she was/is/will be, he wanted to share his world with her and be apart of hers too. He wanted so badly for them to be together beginning to end, he could feel her out there, he knew she existed and it was incredibly frustrating that he couldn’t see her yet. The whole time she was just beyond the clear veil, so close he thought he could reach out and grab her, yet all his hands would return with was mud or yet another clue instead. Frustration of the highest degree that stemmed from a deeper knowledge lead him to deter from the path for a bit, but he quickly realized that what he was surrounded with lacked warmth. He realized how cold and far he had veered. Just as he hoped to be her beckon of light, she unwittingly was to him. In these dark moments, all he wanted was to find home. To find a warm, safe, place shrouded in light to rest his weary and oh so heavy heart. When he looked up he realized that he didn’t need to trudge through mud anymore or have blistered sore feet ever again, he finally realized that he could fly the entire time. It took the darkest and lowest fall for him to realize the only way out was to let himself fly. So that’s exactly what the little traveler did. He gained an aerial view of the land and flew towards the warmest pockets of air. Little did he know that the path he was innocently and happily following purely out of instinct was a fast track home.
Upon arrival, he just knew what to do. He knew that there was a secret doorway there and that no one else in the entire universe would ever or could ever know of it, because somehow. He had the key, the only key to unlock that hidden door and the only door that would work with his key. Nervously, and eagerly he twisted the key and his suspicions were confirmed. The locks began to disengage, one by one. The door parted all too slowly for him, and he stood frozen in the doorway for a moment staring at the coffee drinking girl completely chillin in there. As she turned towards him time seized to exist, the world around them all faded into black. The only thing that mattered was this moment. It was so still that a pin dropping from a thousand miles away could be heard. They each held their breath as the thoughts quieted in their minds and their souls moved them instinctually towards another. The girl living in the clouds set down her coffee and slowly walked over to him with the warmest smile on her face. She too had been bestowed long before time with a beautiful key, just for him. The locks disengaged one by one as she slowly turned the key and revealed his heart. He was relieved to know it was in fact there and his efforts to protect had not gone in vain after all. Even more so, he was relieved that their suspicions about each other were absolutely real and correct. They had finally found their way home to one another.
